Laura Zavelson (Professor Z) is an experienced entrepreneur and corporate business development professional. Her experience includes more than almost a decade in the medical device industry, evaluating technology and developing strategic corporate alliances with innovators and start-ups.
She served as co-founder and CEO of ViASIC, a venture-backed EDA software company that was purchased by Triad Semiconductor Inc. Later, she founded and led Calliope Workshop, an award winning boutique branding and marketing agency.
She joined the faculty of Elon University as an Entrepreneur in Residence in the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership in Spring 2011. She currently teaches Venture Funding and Introduction to Entrepreneurship.
Additionally, she has a special interest in encouraging university women to obtain entrepreneurship skills regardless of their intended career path. Today, women remain underrepresented nationally in business education.
